Francis Huster separated from Cristiana Reali: why did he not have joint custody of his daughters?

Francis Huster is starring in Murders on the Frioul Islands broadcast this Saturday, March 12 on France 3. The 74-year-old actor plays the father of a police commissioner, suspected of murder. In real life, no son but two daughters for the actor: Elisa, 23, and Tuscany, 19. His children were born from his marriage to actress Cristiana Reali, with whom he shared seventeen years of his life.

Unfortunately for them, the initially unthinkable separation ended up being inevitable: “I wasn’t well anymore, I wasn’t very happy anymore, I didn’t make Francis very happy either. One of the two had to shake the other a little, we did it and that’s it. Afterwards, of course, there is always one who suffers more than the other. Sometimesconfided Cristiana Reali to the magazine Gala in 2012. It is the lack of involvement that is dangerous. When things affect you less, they affect you less. When even what is bluffing no longer bluffs you.”

Francis Huster and Cristiana Reali therefore had to organize a new life with their daughters, aged 5 and 10 at the time of their breakup. And unlike dads who have the “luck“to be able to see their children half the time, Francis Huster, he did not have a say:”My daughters were five and ten when we separated. For them, I wanted it to go as well as possible. But we can’t avoid doing damage.“Cristiana Reali asked for sole custody:”I’m not very much in favor of joint custody. I find that a child needs a home, that his things are in one house.”

The two former have nevertheless kept important links: “I will always love Francis and he will always be a part of my life. For the children on the one hand, but also because he’s a good person, with all his madness, his original side which can be destabilizing when you don’t know him. He’s a good guy, generous, sensitive, with heart” said Cristiana Reali. As recently as last November, Francis Huster also went there with his little statement: “I owe her a lot because without her I wouldn’t have had children. […] She represented all the women I’ve loved, she was the finish line of my life“. All’s well That ends well !
