Forty-five years later Apocalypse Nowwhich earned him a second Palme d’Or, the American director will be one of the main attractions on the Croisette this year (May 14-25), he who had not directed a feature film since Twixtreleased in 2011.
The day chosen to release these images is not due to chance: this May 4 should in fact have marked the 88e birthday of the filmmaker’s wife, Eleanor Coppola.
“ Megalopolis has always been a film dedicated to my dear wife, Eleanor. I was really hoping to celebrate her birthday with her this May 4th. But, unfortunately, that is not the case, so let me share with everyone a gift from him,” the 85-year-old cinema giant wrote on his Instagram account.
This feature film, with a budget of more than 100 million dollars according to the American press, revolves around the destruction of a megalopolis and a reconstruction which takes place between an architect and the mayor of the city.
