The mother of a victim salutes Emmanuel Macron’s “courage” for having organized such a ceremony in France.
“Here, they barely commemorate the victims, while France considers us.” The parents of Karine Journo, killed during the Hamas attack in Israel on October 7, 2023, tell franceinfo their emotion, on the eve of the tribute to the French victims which will take place in Paris, Wednesday February 7. “We were very moved to be invited to this commemoration”says the mother of the 24-year-old young woman.
“On the one hand, there is sadness, but there is also pride”, testifies for her part, Tzipora Levy, mother of Yitzhak Levy, also killed during the attack of October 7. The latter greets “courage” of Emmanuel Macron for having organized such a ceremony in France: “It’s symbolic, it’s solemn.” “All that matters to me at the moment is that we free the hostages”assures Tzipora Levy.

Emmanuel Macron will pay a national tribute on Wednesday October 7 “under the sign” of the “fight against anti-Semitism” to the French victims of the attack carried out on October 7 by Hamas in Israel, before a “memorial time” later considered for the French people who died in Israeli bombings in Gaza.
The ceremony at Les Invalides will allow the Head of State to salute the memory of “42 fellow citizens died” in the attack by the Palestinian Islamist movement, which led to the death of more than 1,160 people, the majority civilians.
