franceinfo journalist Jean-François Achilli was dismissed for serious misconduct by Radio France. The reasons for dismissal are “repeated breaches of ethical obligations regarding external collaborations”. The 61-year-old political columnist was summoned by the director and editorial director of Franceinfo, Jean-Philippe Baille and Philippe Rey, on March 14, the day after an article in World pointing to his participation in the writing of the autobiography of the president of the National Rally Jordan Bardella.

Jean-François Achilli had indicated to Le Monde that he “did not sign a writing contract for Jordan Bardella’s book” but that “all of this was part of his personal professional life”. The management of franceinfo then decided “in accordance with its ethical rules to suspend Jean-François Achilli from the broadcast as a precautionary measure, while the situation is clarified”. After the articles of Worlda newspaper investigation Release revealed that Jean-François Achilli had carried out an undeclared parallel activity of media training for business leaders within the Tilder firm for at least ten years.

Jean-François Achilli was summoned to an interview prior to a possible sanction on April 2. Since his suspension, there have been repeated and various breaches, over a long period, of the ethical obligations relating to external collaborations in force at Radio France. The management of Radio France decided to dismiss him for “serious misconduct”. Any external collaboration project, whether paid or not, must in fact be the subject of information to the hierarchy, according to internal rules. This involves identifying whether or not there is a conflict of interest. These rules apply to all Radio France journalists. In recent years, several employees have been sanctioned, including dismissal.
