With the Summer Olympic Games in Paris approaching, students in CM2 class at the Fondarie school in Paris are taking a closer look at the quality of the water in the Seine in this program.

The Ile-de-France public sanitation service, SIAAP, treats wastewater, rainwater and industrial water from the Paris metropolitan area in its factories. François-Marie Didier, president of SIAAP, answers all the questions asked by the children:

Mazarine would first like to know if ”are we sure that the Seine will be cleaned up for the Olympic Games events?”. Kylian, for his part, wants to understand, “why the Seine is so polluted ?”.

Ignacio, asks questions relating to the Olympic events themselves: “Are athletes at risk of getting sick when entering the Seine? And QWhat diseases can you get if you swim in the Seine?” And “if it ever rains during the Olympic Games events, will it further pollute the Seine?” Kylian adds.

Finally, Élisa asks in turn: “Is it expensive to clean up the Seine?”
