The children of franceinfo junior talk this Wednesday about “monkey pox”, also called “Mpox”. A viral disease that is an epidemic in certain countries in central Africa, notably the Democratic Republic of Congo. In France, there is no epidemic but the virus is monitored and recommendations are made.

We talk about it with Dr. Odile Launay, infectious disease specialist and university professor at the University of Paris. She answers questions from children aged 11 to 15: Maïlane, Maxime, Candice and Romane.

Barrier gestures, possible confinement and threat to France… the children first ask questions to take stock of the spread of this virus.

“How did this disease appear? Why is this disease called that?” then ask Maxime and Candice.

On the show’s microphone, Candice also wants to know how this disease is transmitted.

“Have people already died from this disease?” continues Romane.

Finally, Maïlane wants to know if there will be a vaccine against this virus.

On this page, listen again to this entire program on “monkey pox”.
