On this World Blood Donor Day, organized by the WHO to promote blood donation, franceinfo junior welcomes Jacques Courchelle, doctor and head of samples at the French Blood Establishment for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. He is interviewed by students from Le Ruissatel college in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône).

The program begins first with Izia’s intervention at the microphone: the young interviewer wants to know “What is the purpose of donating blood?” In turn, Marvin speaks: “How much blood loss does a person need to receive?”

The schoolboy also asks a question about the blood groups of donors and recipients. “Which blood groups give the most and the least?”, asks Alicia. “Do certain diseases prevent blood donation?”, asks Marvin again. Finally, Laurine wants to know if giving blood “it hurts”.

On this page, re-listen in full to this franceinfo junior programme, recorded as part of the media literacy workshop “La franceinfo junior editorial staff”.
