It is the International Day of Forests, this Thursday, March 21, 2024. The UN also reminds that 10 million hectares of forest still disappear each year. The subject interests CM2 students at the Victor Hugo school in Colombes in the Paris region. They ask their questions to Régine Touffait, forestry engineer, at the natural forest risks department at the National Forestry Office (ONF).
The first question goes to Israa: “Has the number of forests decreased since 2000?” asks the schoolgirl.
The students are also interested in the dangers that threaten our forests. “How can we prevent deforestation?” Sarah wants to know. Samuel for his part asks the guest if she has ever seen sick trees. “Has there ever been a major forest fire disaster in France?” Israa questions again.
“Why are you passionate about forests?” continues the schoolgirl, to close this program under the sign of nature.
