After two years off, Simone Biles is back on top. The 26-year-old gymnast and her American compatriots won the gold medal during the team competition on Wednesday October 4 at the World Championships in Antwerp (167.729 points). Biles adds a new medal to his well-stocked list of achievements, the 26th of his career and his 20th world title. This is a record.
The French finished on the podium, in third place (164.064 points) behind Brazil (165.530 pts). Less than a year before the Olympic Games, Mélanie De Jesus Dos Santos, Coline Devillard, Marine Boyer, Morgane Osyssek and Lorette Charpy produced a high-level performance, offering France its first world team medal since 1950, and the second in its history.

Mélanie “DJDS” stood out in particular by performing well on all apparatus. It alone brought in 56.50 points. The five French gymnasts finished their competition on the balance beam. Despite the high risk of penalties, the French women succeeded in their rotation to finish on the podium. Euphoric, the gymnasts celebrated their medal with the tricolor flag.
Note that Mélanie “DJDS” will participate in the all-around final this week, while Coline Devillard and Lorette Charpy will be lined up in the vault and uneven bars respectively.
