Bernard Guetta, candidate (Renaissance) in the European elections, was the guest of “4 Vérités” on France 2, Wednesday May 29.

Norway, Spain and Ireland officially recognized the State of Palestine on Tuesday May 28. Emmanuel Macron said the same day “ready” to recognize it, but added that he did not want to act under the influence of“emotion”in a context of international outrage after a deadly IDF strike on a refugee camp in Rafah, in southern Gaza.

“France will have to recognize Palestine”, estimates Bernard Guetta, candidate (Renaissance) in the European elections, Wednesday in the “4 Truths”. Stating that “France must not do it alone”he adds that“by recognizing Palestine, European countries will affirm very clearly, very concretely, their adherence to the two-state solution, (…) that is to say the coexistence of Israel and a Palestinian state”.

“We do not recognize Palestine because Israel is bombing Gaza. We recognize Palestine because it is useful for the resumption of negotiations, because it is useful in affirming the membership of European countries, and therefore notably from France, to the two-state solution”, continues Bernard Guetta. The candidate (Renaissance) in the European elections believes that this recognition of Palestine could “maybe” intervene in “some months”. “I would prefer two months to six months”he adds.
