Nearly 400,000 people have already fled Ukraine. How can the European Union help these refugees? “The Council of EU Interior Ministers has triggered the EU emergency mechanism, this will make it much easier for humanitarian convoys to arrive. We will vote, hopefully next Thursday, on temporary protection to all Ukrainians who will arrive in Europe, that is, asylum”, specifies Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, guest of the “4 Truths” of France 2, Monday, February 28. Will they be welcome in France? “Of course. There is economic, human and asylum solidarity”says the minister.

Is there a risk of Russian interference in France? “There are attacks, regardless of the conflict with Ukraine, but we are repelling them. They have intensified. For the moment, it is a low intensity”, explains Gérald Darmanin. Does the outbreak of war in Ukraine hamper the smooth running of the presidential campaign? “The campaign is shaken up”recognizes the Minister of the Interior.
