France | The Hopman Cup canceled because of the Paris Games

(London) The Hopman Cup which was to take place in France was canceled on Tuesday to avoid a logistical conflict with the Paris Olympic Games.

This mixed team tennis tournament was to take place in Nice at the end of July. The Olympic tennis tournament will take place at Roland-Garros from July 27 to August 4.

The Hopman Cup will return in 2025, said the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

“The players who had registered for this year’s tournament (in Nice) have been informed of the decision, and we are already looking forward to seeing them again on the Côte d’Azur next year,” declared the president of the ‘ITF David Haggerty.

The Hopman Cup, named in honor of the legendary Australian tennis player Harry Hopman, was presented for the first time in 1989, and it was contested annually until 2020. This competition was relaunched last year in France, and it was won by Croatians Donna Vekic and Borna Coric.
