The French state has sent 33 tons of humanitarian aid to Poland to help the Ukrainians, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced on Monday, February 28. More than 30 tonnes of material will also leave for Moldova at the beginning of the week.

“We have already sent 33 tonnes of material” in Poland, where thousands of Ukrainian refugees fled after the invasion of their country by Russia, said the minister, interviewed on France 2 Monday morning. It is “tents, medicine, food”, “everything that helps people to be welcomed in the best conditions”, he added. Two civil security planes “filled with drugs”, according to the minister, are also due to arrive in Poland on Tuesday.

France must submit a draft resolution to the UN Security Council “in order to guarantee unimpeded humanitarian access, to meet the urgent needs of the populations remaining in Ukraine” invaded by Russia, announced Sunday evening the Elysée.
