France-Israel: Insights into the Unique Device Unveiled at Stade de France on Thursday

Extensive security measures are being implemented for the France-Israel football match at Stade de France on November 14. Approximately 4,000 police and gendarmes will ensure safety, with increased checkpoints and security personnel both outside and inside the venue. Authorities remain vigilant against potential threats, particularly towards Israeli representatives. Ticket sales are projected at around 20,000, and attendees are limited to displaying only French and Israeli flags. President Macron will attend to show support and solidarity amid recent tensions.

Unprecedented Security Measures for the France-Israel Football Match

The Ministry of the Interior has implemented an extensive security arrangement for the highly anticipated France-Israel football match scheduled for the evening of Thursday, November 14, at the Stade de France. This ‘XXL’ security initiative, as termed by officials, aims to ensure the safety of all attendees, according to Laurent Nuñez, the police prefect. Here’s a closer look at the details behind this extraordinary setup.

Extraordinary Security Dynamics

As highlighted by Prefect Laurent Nuñez, the security measures in place for this international fixture are deemed ‘very unusual.’ Approximately 4,000 police officers and gendarmes will be deployed, featuring a significant presence of mobile units, including CRS and mobile gendarmes. This number represents two to three times the typical personnel allocated for a standard match. A major portion of the forces will be stationed outside the stadium, but notably, many will also be positioned within the venue itself. Additionally, there will be around 1,600 security agents on-site to enhance safety protocols.

In terms of external security, multiple checkpoints will be established leading up to the stadium, where attendees will undergo identity verification, searches, and pat-downs. Law enforcement will also maintain a strong presence in public transportation and throughout the streets of Paris. To bolster these efforts, specialized resources such as drones and mounted police units will be utilized.

Addressing Potential Threats and Ensuring Safety

Authorities are on high alert for any actions targeting representatives of the State of Israel, as well as potential disturbances among supporters or protests in the stands, especially in light of recent incidents such as the tifo at Parc des Princes last week.

In a proactive measure, officials have coordinated with the Israeli embassy to facilitate the safe movement of their supporters. While a limited number of Israeli police will be present for added security, the French police will oversee safety within their jurisdiction, with permissions granted gradually. Reports suggest that around a hundred Israeli supporters are expected to attend, although the Israeli authorities have advised their nationals to reconsider attending the match following recent unrest in Amsterdam.

The Israeli football delegation will receive the same level of protection as during their stay for the Olympic Games, which includes continuous security from elite police units like the RAID.

Attendance Expectations and Presidential Support

Organizers anticipate a less-than-full stadium, with the French Football Federation (FFF) projecting ticket sales to be ‘around 20,000,’ in stark contrast to the Stade de France’s capacity of approximately 80,000. Ticket sales remain open, but attendees will be restricted to displaying only French and Israeli flags, with any political messages strictly prohibited.

Notably, President Emmanuel Macron is set to attend the match. According to his team, this presence will underscore his unwavering support for the French team, while also delivering a message of unity and solidarity in the wake of the recent anti-Semitic acts following the match in Amsterdam.
