“The French love animals, but unfortunately there are still too many abandoned animals, especially before the summer holidays“, notes Sandrine Arcizet, Tuesday June 25. She co-hosts with Élodie Ageron the show devoted to animals on C8: “Animals to adopt: new family for a new life”, which will celebrate its hundredth Friday. The show, usually broadcast on Sunday afternoon, tells stories of cats, dogs, rabbits and other animals arriving by chance in an SPA shelter in Pornic, Chamarande or even Saint-Omer. work of employees and volunteers, we follow the journey towards the adoption of these animals.
France is the European champion in abandonments, confirms Sandrine Arcizet. She explains that there are now many childcare solutions, “to either take your pet with you on vacation or have it looked after. There are also now many pensions, free websites, where you can find people to come and look after the animal at home, or the person takes it into their home.“.”Now there are plenty of solutions, but unfortunately there are still too many abandonments“, she laments. While “Animals for adoption” is in its sixth season, the host explains that the SPA has noticed that, thanks to the show“a lot of people have come to adopt from shelters and that’s great, it’s a great success for us“, rejoices the host who also presents another flagship show on C8: “GymDirect”.
“All the classes that you could find in a local gym, here you really have them at home“, summarizes Sandrine Arcizet who also has another string to her bow, that of sport. A sportswoman since she was little, she did figure skating then fitness, it was in 2005 that she created the show “Gym Direct ” on the Direct8 channel, on a simple idea: doing your gym at home. “We really created the largest sports hall in France” she continues, “you will find muscle strengthening, pilates, stretching, boxing, dancing, it’s very varied“.
