The small balls came out of the salad bowl, sealing the fate of the Blues for the group stage of the 2022 World Cup, which will take place in Qatar from November 21 to December 18. The three opponents of the Blues designated by the draw, this Friday, are Denmark, Tunisia and the winner of the dam between Australia, the Emirates and Peru. An affordable group for reigning world champions.
Mark your calendars: the dates of Les Bleus matches
The Blues of Didier Deschamps will launch their tournament against the victorious team of the dam on November 22, before challenging the Danes, semi-finalists of the last Euro on November 26, then Tunisia on November 30.
Denmark has often been the lucky charm of the Blues in major competition: at each of their major trophies, the Habs have crossed paths with the Danes on their way in the group stage, without ever losing (1-0 at Euro-1984, 2-1 at the 1998 World Cup, 3-0 at the Euro-2000, 0-0 at the 2018 World Cup). The opposition against Tunisia will be the first match in official competition for the Blues.
And the others ?
Spain will face in its group Germany, the adversary dreaded by all the seeds. This will be one of the flagship posters of this first round. Japan is also in this Group E.
Host country Qatar will have the Netherlands in their squad for their first World Cup. The host country will face Ecuador in the opening match on 21 November.
Brazil, record winners with five trophies (the last 20 years ago), will have to be wary of Serbia, who had beaten Portugal in qualifying, and Switzerland, in Group G.
