A little tour and then it’s gone. The Blues needed a victory, Sunday September 17 in Manchester, to hope to take part in the quarter-finals of the Davis Cup. But they were dominated by Great Britain (2-1), after a decisive double lost by Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin against Dan Evans and Neal Skupski, despite four match points and almost three hours of battle (1-6, 7-6, 7-6).
Earlier in the day, Ugo Humbert beat Cameron Norrie (7-6, 3-6, 7-5) to make up for Arthur Fils’ defeat against Dan Evans (3-6, 6-3, 6-4). It is therefore without the French team that the final eight-team tournament of this Davis Cup will take place, scheduled for November 21 to 26 in Malaga, Spain.
