France “condemns attacks against United Nations sites and humanitarian personnel”, government spokesperson Olivier Véran said on Friday, November 3, after several Israeli strikes, notably on the Jabaliya refugee camp, the largest in the Gaza Strip. Earlier in the day, Olivier Véran had already reported on BFMTV a conviction “farm” from Paris after “the bombing of Jabaliya”.
The Hamas government announced Thursday that at least 27 people were killed in an Israeli strike near a UN school in the Jabaliya refugee camp, the third bombing on the camp in three days.
The UN Secretary-General said he was “appalled” by these bombings
Strikes Tuesday and Wednesday on the Jabaliya camp, the largest in the Gaza Strip, left 195 dead, 777 injured and 120 missing under the rubble, according to Hamas. According to Israel, Tuesday’s bombing made it possible to“eliminate” a senior Hamas leader. These reports could not be independently verified.
On Wednesday, France said to itself “deeply concerned about the very heavy toll” Israeli strikes on the Jabaliya camp, recalling that “the protection of civilian populations is an obligation of international law which is binding on all”. The UN, through its Secretary General Antonio Guterres, said “dismayed” by the bombings on this very densely populated camp, where 116,000 refugees live.
