France brings its know-how to improve the railways after the accident which killed 57 people

The French and Greek Ministers Delegate for Transport, Clément Beaune and Giorgos Gerapetritis, signed a railway cooperation agreement in Athens on Monday May 8 to improve the Greek railways, after the accident of February 28 which killed 57 people. “This political agreement between France and Greece is a real technical and technological cooperation” And “operational” which is part of a series of bilateral cooperation, specified Clément Beaune.

Signed in the presence of Olivier Bancel, number two of SNCF Réseau, and Panagiotis Terezakis, president of the Greek railways OSE, this agreement follows a visit in April by Giorgos Gerapetritis to Paris to request French assistance in the area of railroads. The agreement aims to “regular reassessment” railway operating systems, “the application of international practices” in terms of safety and “know-how transfer” for’“improve” the Greek railways, underlined the Greek Minister. It will be followed by other agreements between SNCF and OSE.
