The Angoulême Comics Festival awards prizes every year (Beasts) to the best comic strip artists in the competition. Among the most prestigious and famous awards of the competition are:
- Grand Prix of the city of Angoulêmeawarded by international authors
- Alternative Comics Awardintended for all magazines, journals and others dealing with comics
- Goscinny Prizerewarding both an experienced screenwriter and another in the making.
It is also possible to participate in competition open to all: the Young Talents Competition for young adults and the School Comics Competition for middle and high school students.
