France Bleu Azur tests summer hikes in the Alpes Maritimes: Mont Pépoiri

Direction Mont Pépoiri

At the very top of Valdeblore and Vésubie, the debonair ridges of Mont Pépoiri, the peak bordering Mercantour, constitute an ideal hiking objective for an exhaustive discovery of the massif.

The ascent of Mount Pépoiri presents a slight difference in altitude with regard to the interest of the route and the quality of the panorama. This is the most favorable point for a detailed inventory of all the summits of the Franco-Italian border ridge from the Argentera group to the Merveilles massif.

To the south, the notches dug by the valleys (Vésubie, Tinée, Estéron in particular) descend slowly towards the Mediterranean Sea, clearly visible on a clear day.

Decorating the route and offering opportunities for trout fishing and swimming in hot weather, the Millefonts lakes bear witness to the distant era of the Quaternary glaciations.
