Direction the summit of Caïre Gros
Caïre Gros, a summit adjoining the Tinée, Vésubie and Valdeblore valleys, is one of the main viewpoints in the department despite its modest altitude. We can detail the Franco-Italian border chain with the major peaks of the Mercantour (Argentera, Gélas, Malédie, Clapier, etc.) which easily exceed 3,000 m.
Depending on the season, picking wild strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or mushrooms (“mainly blood” mushrooms) will brighten up this forest hike in the heart of the Bois Noir populated by spruces, firs and larches.
For connoisseurs, it will also be possible to pick spinach or wild sorrel leaves in early summer, before the herds of cows take over the area, meticulously mowing the surrounding mountain pastures.
