France Bleu Azur is testing summer hikes in the Alpes Maritimes: The Druos drop

Direction the decline of Druos

Easily accessible from the Isola 2000 resort, the peaceful circus of the Terre Rouge lakes is logically frequented in summer: sheltered from the granite walls of Tavels and dominated by the imposing mass of Mount Malinvern, these famous lakes as the purpose of a stroll also lend themselves to trout fishing.

Located just above the lakes, the lower Druos allows pedestrian communication with the Val Gesso and the Italian Natural Park “delle Alpi Marittime”, created in 1980 and twinned with the Mercantour National Park since July 1987.

Early in the morning or late in the evening, we will perhaps be lucky enough to catch the furtive passage of the large wild ungulates of our alpine fauna (chamois, mouflons, ibexes) which prize this territory, once a privileged hunting ground for the kings of ‘Italy.
