France beaten (7-13) by England, Laure Sansus injured

The French women’s rugby team lost their second group match this Saturday, November 15, at the World Cup in New Zealand. Despite a fierce fight, defeat 7 to 13 against the English, the first nation in the world ranking of women’s rugby, unbeatable for four years.

Not so far from the feat

Dominating from start to finish, the English struggled to transform, the French showing themselves to be very courageous in defence. A try by Toulouse’s Gaëlle Hermet in the 63rd even allowed the game to restart.

Les Bleues have especially lost their key player, the Toulousaine Laure Sansus, touched in the knee from the 10th minute of play. The French number 9 was taken care of by the medical staff and taken out on a cart. We still do not know the extent of her injury, but a very bad sign, the young woman was moving on crutches on the bench. She warned that she was quitting rugby after the competition. In this very physical Crunch, another Frenchwoman came out on injury, the third line of Montpellier, Romane Ménager.

After their victory against South Africa (40-5)
in opening, the French are second in their group. The South Africans are due to face Fiji on Sunday. For the third and final pool match, France will challenge Fiji on Saturday October 22 at 8:15 a.m. French time.
