Emmanuel Macron met, Monday, July 18, the President of the United Arab Emirates Mohammed Ben Zayed. At the end of the visit, an “energy cooperation” partnership was signed.

First issue of the visit of the Emirati President Mohammed Ben Zayed, Monday, July 18, in Paris: to diversify the sources of energy supply. The United Arab Emirates represent only 0.2% of French imports but they can play a considerable role, particularly in diesel. Today, 25% of the diesel consumed in France comes from Russia. A consumption that Emmanuel Macron would like to revise downwards.

In addition to diesel, an agreement will be signed, also including renewable energies, nuclear power and hydrocarbons. Another challenge of this visit: to increase oil production. And for that, we must also convince the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. Between them, they lead the countries with the greatest capacity to increase their oil production.
