France Amyot was appointed Tuesday to the post of cabinet director of the Parti Québécois, signing her return to the party created by her uncle, René Lévesque.
This was announced in a press release by the parliamentary leader of the Parti Québécois and Member of Parliament for the Magdalen Islands, Joël Arseneau, and the leader of the Parti Québécois, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon.
“Well known within the Parti Québécois for having held the position of chief of staff to several ministers and opposition leaders, France has once again made use of its long experience”, it is possible to read.
She then replaces Marie-France Perreault, who decided to leave her post for personal reasons and who will continue her collaboration with the party from Montreal.
France Amyot had worked for nearly twenty years for the party, but also at the federal level for the Bloc Québécois.
She had started a comeback in politics in 2016 when Jean-François Lisée had recruited her to lead his electoral campaign in order to obtain the leadership of the party.
