For the fourth consecutive year, France has taken first place among the most attractive European countries in terms of foreign investment. Decryption with the journalist Olivier Poncelet, present, Thursday, May 11, on the set of 12/13.

France attracts investors. “If we look at the number of new import projects, it is very clear: with 1,259 projects in 2022, our country is by far the most attractive of the European countries. And it is attracting more and more: the number of projects has even increased by 3% in one year”introduces the journalist Olivier Poncelet, present, Thursday, May 11, on the set of 12/13.

Not so many jobs created

Among the projects, a battery factory in Dunkirk or semiconductors in Isère. The impact on employment, however, is mixed. “On average, each of these foreign investment projects results in the creation of 33 jobs. This is not much, and this number of jobs created even tends to decrease over time: -15% over one year”, continues the journalist. To continue to attract foreign investors, the public authorities wish to simplify the procedures for setting up a factory, or even extend aid for projects linked, for example, to renewable energies.
