France Télévisions looks back on four news of the day on Saturday March 12: marches for the climate, a fourth dose of vaccine for the over 80s, the attack on a Marseille policeman and a weather alert in Occitania.
A knife attack took place on the morning of Saturday March 12 in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), in front of the town hall. A man attacked three municipal police officers, who were securing donations for Ukraine. After several warnings, the injured policeman’s colleagues killed the attacker.
Faced with the rebound of the Covid-19 epidemic, the over 80s will be able to receive a fourth dose of vaccine, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced in the evening.
In 130 cities in France, demonstrators marched for the climate. One month before the presidential election, climate issues occupied less than 3% of the candidates’ speaking time. Voters wanted to be heard.
Finally, Occitania is on weather alert. The sea is stormy near Montpellier (Hérault), and the wind should strengthen further. This department, as well as the Aude, will be on orange “rain-flood” vigilance until Sunday, 4 p.m.
