Four people died on Friday February 11 in a road accident in Pontivy (Morbihan) after their car fell into a canal, reports France Bleu Breizh Izel.

The accident occurred close to downtown Pontivy at the Ponteau lock. A witness spotted the body of the car in the water, this Friday, around 9 a.m., in the Nantes-Brest canal where the car finished its race.

The four victims are all young men. Three of them were 22 years old, the fourth was 33 years old. They were in training at the CFPPA in Pontivy, the Center for Vocational Training and Agricultural Promotion.

According to the deputy prosecutor of Lorient, “the first investigations carried out by the Pontivy brigade, the Vannes criminal investigation cell and the underwater investigators of the gendarmerie tend to show that it was a road accident.”

The investigation must still clarify the circumstances of this tragedy.
