Four years after the collapse of the Morandi bridge in Genoa (Italy), journalist Lionel Feuerstein reports on the trial which begins on Thursday 7 July.
In Italy, on August 14, 2018, in Genoa, the Morandi bridge collapsed. A tragedy that claimed the lives of 43 people, including four French. Four years later, the trial begins. It will be a river trial, with no less than 59 defendants. They are summoned today before the court of Genoa. All are charged with manslaughter.
“Among them, former directors of motorway companies, executives, technicians and even equipment officials who did not carry out the necessary checks”, explains journalist Lionel Feuerstein. And to continue: “Faced with them, associations of victims and only two families. These are the ones who did not accept the financial compensation offered by Autostrade.” Everyone wants to understand what happened.
