Four years after the disappearance of Poitevine Tiphaine Véron, her family denounces “the inertia of justice”

This Friday, it has been four years since Poitevine Tiphaine Véron disappeared in Nikko, Japan. On July 29, 2018, a week after her 36th birthday, this resident of Poitiers vanished. That summer, the school life assistant offered her second trip to the land of the Rising Sun, which she had been passionate about since a first stay in 2013.

Despite four years of relentless efforts on the part of her relatives, the young woman still could not be found. As for justice, after having opened an investigation in the fall of 2018, it is in the process of closing the file and dismissing the case. The investigating judge notified Tiphaine’s family last month of her intention not to travel to Japan to continue the investigations.

Plan for a new trip to Nikko with Japanese private investigators

In front of “the inertia of justice“, his relatives have launched a petition which is on the way to crossing the bar of 20,000 signatures.

A new trip to Japan is also in preparation for this fall. His relatives want to continue the investigations with private detectives on the spot. They still have to establish the roadmap.

As for the dismissal, it could be pronounced by justice in the coming weeks. As soon as this is the case, the relatives of Tiphaine have announced their intention to appeal the decision. It will then be up to the criminal chamber of the Poitiers Court of Appeal to decide.
