Four women in the running | Five finalists for the high school students’ Goncourt

(Rennes) Five authors, including four women, remained in contention on Monday for the Goncourt des lycéens which will be awarded Thursday in Rennes, at the end of the literary prize season, the organizers announced.



The five finalists, including the winner of the Medici Prize Christine Angot and that of the Femina Clara Dupont-Monod Prize, were selected “after two months of diligent reading of the 14 novels in the running” by the high school students delegates from each region who deliberated on Monday in behind closed doors, according to a press release.

Regional deliberations for the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens, created and organized by Fnac and the Ministry of National Education, took place in Lyon, Metz, Nantes, Nîmes, Paris and Rennes.

The 13 high school delegates, appointed during these regional deliberations, must meet Thursday in Rennes, cradle of the prize, for the national deliberation.

They will announce the winner at 12:45 p.m. from the Rennes Town Hall. The award ceremony will take place in Paris, at 7 p.m. the same day, at the Ministry of National Education.

The 5 finalist novels (in alphabetical order) are:

– Christine Angot, The trip to the east (ed. Flammarion);

– Anne Berest, Postcard (ed. Grasset);

– Clara Dupont-Monod, Adapt (ed. Stock);

– Patrice Franceschi, If only one remains (ed. Grasset);

– Lilia Hassaine, Bitter sun (ed. Gallimard).

In 2020, the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens was awarded to Djaïli Amadou Amal for his novel Impatient (Emmanuelle Collas editions).
