Four suspects and three injured after a fight in a Montreal building

(Montreal) The Montreal City Police Department has arrested a total of four suspects in connection with a fight that left three people injured, including one person who was stabbed in the upper body, Sunday morning in an apartment building of the metropolis.

The last two people arrested, around 4:40 p.m., are a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, specifies officer Jeanne Drouin, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM). ).

Both were transported to a detention center to be questioned by investigators.

A 28-year-old man was arrested at the scene earlier, around 9 a.m., and another man, 26, around 12 p.m.

The responsible investigators confirmed that all the suspects in these attacks have been arrested, said M.me Drouin. Four suspects were arrested, 3 men and a woman.

A call to 9-1-1 around 4 a.m. Sunday morning led emergency services to this location located on rue Crépeau, near rue Quintin, in the borough of Saint-Laurent.

“We are currently reporting three victims who are out of danger,” she said.

The victims, transported to hospital, are three men aged 19, 26 and 40 years old.

Investigators are still on site, as are forensic identification technicians, the SPVM having established a command post on site and a large perimeter has been set up. The area should be avoided.

The language barrier poses a major challenge to investigators as they have several people to meet and try to clarify what happened, explained Officer Drouin.

In addition, around a hundred people were evacuated from the building due to a fire alarm, which turned out to be unfounded. Most of them were able to return to their homes, with the exception of a few due to several crime scenes which were protected by the police inside the building.

According to the latest information obtained from the investigation, the fight occurred in a “party context, between several acquaintances during which tempers became heated and an argument broke out between several individuals”.

The background to this dispute remains unknown for the moment, but it is not linked to organized crime, drug trafficking or a hate crime.

The SPVM investigation continues.
