France will not achieve carbon neutrality. The report of the ecological transition agency proposes four scenarios, all difficult, to limit disasters. Sandrine Feydel, journalist at France Télévisions, analyzes this report.

Extreme weather episodes are on the increase on the planet. What do they have in common? Climate change. “To avoid future tragedies as much as possible, we must drastically reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. To achieve this, the ecological transition agency worked for two years with more than a hundred researchers to propose solutions. The first scenario is called the ‘frugal generation’, it favors the local and recommends half of its journeys on foot or by bicycle. The second is called ‘territorial cooperation and is based on ‘sharing economy and the development of medium-sized towns’, Explain Sandrine Feydel, journalist at France Télévisions.

The third solution proposed by Ademe proposes to invest in green growth by developing decarbonization technologies and renovating housing. “The last scenario is a bet on the future. It is based on technologies that do not yet exist and on the development of CO² capture and storage to continue mass consumption and increased travel”, adds Sandrine Feydel.
