A dangerous leak, officials who deplore injuries and several degraded vehicles: it is a refusal to comply of a rare intensity that took place in Blanc-Mesnil (Seine-Saint-Denis), Thursday, March 23.
The facts begin with an intervention related to a stolen vehicle. A plainclothes team from the Territorial Contact Brigade (BTC) monitors the latter, parked in a parking lot. After a few minutes, a man arrives and takes the wheel. Discreetly, the officials follow him to wait for reinforcements and arrest him. But when the police activate their flashing lights, the suspect refuses to comply. He rushes head-on into a police vehicle, which has to swerve to avoid him.
The chase will then last nearly 20 km. “He slaloms between vehicles (…) taking great risks”, “by dodging the many vehicles coming in front of him”, according to a police source. On several occasions, the man, Ahmed T., grid red lights, takes roundabouts in the opposite direction, at a speed sometimes exceeding 100 km / h. It also fails to knock over pedestrians, including children; one of them has to jump back so as not to get run over. Fortunately, no passers-by are affected.
An “ambush” stretched out to the police
During the chase, the police fall victim to a trap. “They fell into an ambush”, says a police source. According to their story, “about twenty young individuals wearing a hood” throw projectiles, furniture, “wooden chairs and furniture”, damaging three police cars. A little later, the fugitive even voluntarily crashes into the officials in order to continue his escape.
Ahmed T. is finally arrested after hitting a barrier. During his arrest, he resists and punches the police, who use their electric pulse gun to subdue him. Four officials complaining of injuries, including neck pain, filed a complaint of violence. According to our information, the fugitive was placed under judicial supervision pending trial. A man suspected of having participated in the ambush was taken into custody, but has since been released.
