Four police officers from the Marseille BAC have been indicted, accused of meeting violence against a young man during the urban riots. One of them was placed in judicial detention.

Marseille police waited for hours, Wednesday July 20, at the foot of the Marseille courthouse (Bouches-du-Rhône). Of the four police officers incriminated, one went into pre-trial detention, under the cries of support from his colleagues. The three other agents came out free, under judicial supervision with a ban on practicing, but they will not go to prison, contrary to the requisitions of the prosecution.

60 days of ITT

On July 2, as Marseille was rocked by a night of riots, police allegedly assaulted a 22-year-old young man. Accompanied by a friend, he came across plainclothes police officers from the BAC that day. He says he received flashball shots and beatings for no reason. “They pulled me by my clothes and dragged me into an alley, they put me on my back, one of them put his knees on my legs to block them”, did he declare. He received 60 days of ITT and fell into a coma for several hours.
