On Saturday October 5, four people died while trying to cross the Channel to reach the United Kingdom. Bruno Retailleau announced that he wanted to track down illegal smugglers and their networks.
There are four of them. Four more migrants died on Saturday October 5 during an illegal crossing of the Channel. They are added to the 46 exiles who have already foundered between France and the United Kingdom this year. “Out of greed and disregard for human life, smuggling networks put people at ever greater risk”declared Jacques Billant, prefect of Pas-de-Calais. These migrants had used a network of smugglers to cross the sea, aboard a fragile and overloaded boat.
The new Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, expressed his anger on social networks: “The smugglers have the blood of these people on their hands and our government will intensify the fight against these mafias”. Intensifying the hunt for smugglers is a priority that Bruno Retailleau is already focusing on. Saturday October 5, during the G7, he announced new cooperation with Italy to exchange information on migratory traffic, a country whose leading role on the issue he underlines.
