Four nominations for the Observatory of Caregiving in Quebec

The two new committees focusing on caregivers in Quebec have officially launched their activities with the appointment of the four people who will head these bodies.

The Minister responsible for Seniors and Caregivers, Marguerite Blais, presented on Sunday the leaders of the Steering Committee of the Quebec Observatory for Close Caregivers and the Committee of Partners Concerned with Support for Caregivers (PPA).

Ms. Constantineau is a member of the Quebec Association of Parents and Friends of Persons Suffering from Mental Illness, while Mr. Rochefort is involved with the Provincial Regrouping of User Committees.

Their mandate will be to determine the orientations, general objectives and policies of the Observatory.

Minister Blais has also appointed Mélanie Perroux, director of Proche aidance Québec, as chair of the Partners Committee. She will be supported by a caregiver, Irène Guérin, as vice-president. These committees and their members will be responsible for formulating recommendations or opinions to the Minister concerning the National Policy and the Government Action Plan for PPAs.

The Observatory aims to provide concrete solutions to support caregivers, by first identifying the issues that affect them. The team, which benefits from an annual budget of $500,000, has already set to work, mentioned Ms. Blais at a press conference.
