Nine minors were brought before a judge, suspected of having attacked homosexual people by ambushing them on dating applications, in two separate cases. Four were placed in pre-trial detention, another is under judicial supervision, franceinfo learned Thursday May 30 from the Bobigny Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Four minors were referred and then placed in pre-trial detention in a first case which took place in Aulnay-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis) on April 15 and 17, 2024. The investigation is open for “rape with acts of torture and barbarity and committed because of true or supposed sexual orientation”, “theft and receiving stolen goods by an organized gang”, “violence”, “extortion”, “dissemination of a recording of images relating to the commission of offense of willful harm to the integrity of the person”, “kidnapping and sequestration and fraud”. In this case, the victims had contacted people for a meeting via Telegram or Snapchat.

In the second case, five suspects, college students attending two different establishments in Aulnay-sous-Bois, are suspected of attacks which took place in Blanc-Mesnil (Seine-Saint-Denis) on April 23, 24 and 28 . The victims had made contact through the Grindr application. They were presented before a children’s judge for “robbery with violence committed due to true or supposed orientation”, “robbery with violence and violence aggravated by three circumstances” (meeting, ambush, true or supposed sexual orientation) . One was placed under judicial supervision, the other four are subject to a provisional judicial educational measure, including the ban on contact with each other or with the victims and compliance with a curfew.
