Four minors in hospital after a car race in Outaouais

A street race between two cars took a dangerous turn on Sunday afternoon in Outaouais, when four minors were taken to hospital after going off the road.

Around 4:45 p.m., in Lochaber, two vehicles were racing on the 4th row of Gore when the driver of one of the two vehicles lost control of his car and ended up in a ravine.

The driver and three passengers in the vehicle, all minors, were transported to a hospital. They suffered life-threatening injuries, according to Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesman Nicolas Scholtus.

Investigators will meet with the driver of the accident vehicle when his condition permits.

As for the other vehicle involved in the race, its occupants did not suffer any injuries. Its 18-year-old driver, however, will be met by SQ police, as will several witnesses.

Two reconstructionists from the SQ will go to the scene to analyze the scene and shed light on this incident.

The 4th row of Gore will be closed for an indefinite period, the time to let the police do their investigative work.
