Four members of a Greek rescue team were killed on Sunday (September 17) in a road accident in Libya, shortly after their arrival to take part in search and rescue operations following deadly floods, the Minister of Defense announced. Eastern Libyan Health Othman Abdeljalil during a press conference.

The accident occurred while the Greek team, made up of 19 people, was en route from Benghazi to Derna, 300 km to the east. Four of its members were killed and 15 others injured, seven of them seriously, according to the minister.

A week after devastating floods in the Libyan city of Derna left thousands dead, local rescue services supported by foreign teams were still actively searching for the bodies of thousands more people still missing.
