Four Iranians executed for ‘cooperation’ with Israel

Four Iranians have been executed in Iran after being sentenced to death for “cooperation” with Israel, a sworn enemy of the Islamic Republic, justice announced on Sunday.

“This morning, the sentences against four of the main members of the group of thugs linked to the intelligence services of the Zionist regime (Israel, Editor’s note), were carried out”, according to the agency of the judicial power Mizan Online.

On May 22, the Revolutionary Guards, Iran’s ideological army, announced the arrest of members of “a network acting under the direction of the Israeli intelligence services”, without specifying the place of their arrest.

“According to the final decision rendered by the Supreme Court, the defendants Hossein Ordoukhanzadeh, Shahin Imani Mahmoudabad, Milad Ashrafi Atbatan and Manouchehr Shahbandi Bojandi, were sentenced to death for their cooperation with the Zionist regime (Israel, editor’s note) and for kidnapping”, the judiciary announced on Wednesday.

“These people committed theft, destruction of personal and public property, kidnapping and the extortion of false confessions,” according to the statement issued by the Revolutionary Guards in May.

According to human rights organizations, Iran is among the countries that execute the most prisoners in the world, after China.

Iran has repeatedly announced the arrest of agents working for the intelligence services of foreign countries, including Israel.

In late July, he reported the arrest of ‘agents’ linked to Mossad, Israel’s foreign intelligence service for planning to target a ‘sensitive defense center’, claiming they were members of a rebel group Kurdish banned.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has also accused Israel of sabotaging some of its nuclear sites and of assassinating key Iranian figures, including scientists.

The two countries have been waging a shadow war for years. Israel accuses Iran, which denies, of wanting to acquire the atomic bomb and says it is seeking by all means to prevent it from doing so. Israel also wants to counter Iran’s influence in the Middle East.

At the end of October, Israeli President Isaac Herzog said he shared information with the United States showing, according to Israeli intelligence, the use of Iranian drones in the war in Ukraine.

For his part, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, accused his sworn enemies, the United States and Israel, of fomenting the protest movement in Iran sparked by the September 16 death of Mahsa Amini. .

Iran has been the scene of protests since the death of this 22-year-old Iranian Kurd who died three days after her arrest in Tehran by morality police who accused her of having broken the strict dress code of the Islamic Republic.
