Four people – including a 13-month-old baby – were injured in the collapse of a balcony of a residential building in Laval on Saturday evening.
Posted at 9:12 p.m.
Emergency services were called around 5.30pm after the balcony the people were standing on gave way under their feet. They ended their fall about three floors below, said agent Érika Landry, of the Service de police de Laval (SPL).
The baby was transferred to CHU Sainte-Justine. Two men and a woman – members of the same family – also suffered “significant injuries”, said agent Landry, without being able to say at this stage if there was a danger to their lives.
As the balcony was at the rear of the building, traffic was not impeded on the boulevard de l’Hôtel-de-Ville, where the fall occurred.
The SPL major crimes investigators went to the scene to shed light on the circumstances of the events.
