The Sûreté du Québec will dispatch no less than three command posts Thursday morning, to strategic locations on the south shore and the north shore of Montreal, to invite the population to help solve the murders of four individuals linked to organized crime committed at the end of 2020 and during the summer of 2021.
Posted at 5:00 a.m.
These are the assassinations of Sacha Nelson César, committed on December 1, 2020 in Laval, Arsène Mompoint, which occurred on July 1, 2021 in Kanesatake, near Oka, Joas Jean-Baptiste, killed on August 5, 2021 in Longueuil, and Nitchell Lapaix, shot on August 17, 2021 in Laval.
César, considered an associate of gang leader Arsène Mompoint, was killed by two suspects as he left his residence on rue de la Fabrique.
Arsene Mompoint was seated with several individuals at the Green Room cannabis dispensary on Route 344 when a black male, wearing a headband that partially concealed his face, got out of a gray SUV, approached him from- behind and opened fire more than once. The suspect then fled on rang Saint-Michel towards Oka.
Joas Jean-Baptiste was killed on rue Truteau, in Longueuil. Called for gunshots, the police saw two suspects running from the scene. Joas was reportedly involved in violent events in previous months.
Finally Nitchell Lapaix was a right-hand man and a friend of gang leader Jean-Philippe Célestin. Laval police were called to the shots at the corner of Tourangeau and Saint-Luc streets and found the victim lying on the ground.
The command post that the SQ will send Thursday morning to Laval will be open from 7 a.m. and based near the place where Lapaix was killed, in the parking lot of the Rona store located at 164 boulevard des Laurentides.
In Oka, the police will be waiting for citizens starting at 7 a.m. in the Rona parking lot located at the intersection of Route 344 and Rang de l’Annonciation, and in Longueuil, they will be stationed in the parking lot of the Super C supermarket, located at 2901 chemin de Chambly.
All these murders are not necessarily related to each other.
The investigations are carried out by the Crimes against the person and by the team of murders related to organized crime of the SQ, under the hat of the Centaur strategy.
This provincial strategy, announced by Public Security Minister Geneviève Guilbault last year, is intended to combat gun crime and gun trafficking.
