At 21, Erling Haaland is a phenomenon. Courted by many European clubs, the performance of the young Norwegian quickly attracted attention. Early, fast, with a keen sense of the game, the striker is the subject of an agreement in principle for his transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City on Tuesday May 10.
The young man will thus be able to walk in the footsteps of his father, a player with the Skyblues from 2000 to 2003, but also in those of Kylian Mbappé, another player with incredible precocity. Overview of a phenomenon that has not finished talking about him.
1 goal every 87 minutes in the Bundesliga
Erling Haaland scores almost at the speed of light. Since playing in the German championship, he has scored an average of one goal every 87 minutes. Affable goalscorer, explosive striker, the Norwegian has scored 21 times in 23 games for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga this season. Last year, he scored 27 times in 28 games. The 21-year-old striker thus becomes the holder of the best ratio in the history of the Bundesliga (minimum 25 goals scored). He dethroned Robert Lewandowski, crowned best footballer of the year in 2020 with Bayern, and his average of one goal every 100 minutes.

24 goals in 20 European games, the earliest of Europe’s top scorers
With 24 goals in 20 European matches, Erling Haaland had become, at 20, the youngest prolific scorer in history. By comparison, after 20 matches in European competitions, Kylian Mbappé had 12 goals, Lionel Messi 8, Robert Lewandowski 6 and Cristiano Ronaldo had only found the net once.
The Norwegian, born in 2000, confirmed his status as a young prodigy by finishing, shortly after, top scorer in the 2020/2021 Champions League. His 10 goals put him ahead of another young striker, Kylian Mbappé (8 goals), two years his senior.

36 km/h, the top speed of the Norwegian
With a footballer father and a heptathlete mother, the young Haaland has something to look forward to. On the ground, the striker was flashed at 36.05 km / h on the occasion of the 28th day of the Bundesliga, last season in Stuttgart. A coyote rhythm exceptional for a player with such a size (1.94 m), making the Norwegian one of the fastest players in the German championship.
By comparison, Kylian Mbappé had been “caught” at a maximum speed of 37 km / h during the France-Argentina match of the 2018 World Cup. The prize goes to Cristiano Ronaldo who recorded a peak of 38.9 km / h on June 15, 2018 during the Portugal-Spain match. Usain Bolt, the multi-medalist Jamaican sprinter, had finally set an average of 37.6 km/h during his 100m world record in Berlin in 2009, with a peak of 44.7 km/h.

17 games missed due to injury this season
Enduring, the Norwegian was. Forty matches played during the 2019-2020 season (straddling Salzburg and Dortmund), 41 the following one, and this year, the fall: only 29 matches and perhaps 30 with the last day of the championship on Saturday. Haaland has missed 17 games since the start of the season through injuries. The Norwegian has, in fact, played only 24 of the 34 scheduled days in the Bundesliga and will not have played the Europa League, after having played only 3 of the 6 Champions League matches.
In question: a muscle tear in the thigh at the end of September 2021, then a hip flexion problem which deprived him of 7 matches between October and November. In February 2022, new muscular problems kept him out of action for 48 days before a minor ankle injury during a match for Norway in March 2022.
