The mobilization against the project of mega-basin continues at Sainte Soline (Two Sevres)this Monday, October 31. Four demonstrators appeared before the Niort judicial court. Protesters want to stay put until at least Wednesday.

Four men are acclaimed by supporters Monday, October 31 before the judicial court of Niort (Deux-Sèvres). They had been arrested on Saturday October 29 during the demonstration against the project of mega-basin in Sainte Soline (Two Sevres) for participating in a group formed to commit degradation and violence. I still feel unfairly treated. I have the impression that we are totally innocent and that this is a political trial”said one of the defendants.

They were all granted time to prepare their defence. We failed to arrest people throwing molotov cocktails or firing mortars. We managed to arrest people who participated in the general movement, which aimed to commit violence against the police and which had one objective, to degrade the property of others.”, explains Julian wattledpublic prosecutor of Niort. There are only about fifty demonstrators left on the spot this evening. Another protest is scheduled for Wednesday.
