Foundation of the CHU de Québec: a grand ball to reinvent the hospital

Flagship event of the CHU de Québec Foundation, the ball of the great romantics scheduled for March 17 at the Videotron Center, will bring together hundreds of donors wishing to contribute to the acquisition of high-tech equipment, the humanization of care and the funding of research, in order to “support the CHU de Québec-Université Laval (CHU) and help it reinvent itself”.

The Foundation is there to offer the CHU de Québec – Université Laval the “plus” that makes the difference. “The Foundation finances the latest generation of highly technological equipment, available on the market, but which the ministry will not finance. Like, for example, surgical robots that ensure that operations are less invasive and faster, that there are fewer infections and that people stay in hospital for less time,” says Marie-Claude Paré, president of the CHU de Québec Foundation.

This added value also promotes the humanization of care, since thanks to the financial support of the Foundation, massages are offered to people at the end of life, pet therapy comforts patients who need it and various programs make the stay at the hospital and the smoother return home.

In addition, by offering start-up grants to researchers, the Foundation enables them to begin new research and push it ever further by seeking other sources of funding, thus achieving new medical advances.

The Foundation is also collaborating in the realization of the largest social health project, the new hospital complex, which will become a reference center for several specialties.

See you at the ball

“The Great Romantics Ball raises funds for all the hospitals of the CHU de Québec – Laval University (Hôtel-Dieu de Québec, Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus, Hôpital du Saint-Sacrement, Hôpital Saint-François d’Assise, CHUL ) all its causes and all its great projects. It is by helping it to become a high-tech university hospital that the Foundation is contributing to reinventing the hospital,” underlines Ms. Paré.

During his 25e edition in 2019, the event had raised $650,000, which had increased the cumulative amount of the last 25 years to nearly $7 million. A sum entirely invested in Quebec, intended for patients in Quebec and the east of the province, for the health and well-being of our community and future generations, because 100% of donations stay here.

This year, the Great Romantics Ball presented by Quebecor, under the honorary presidency of Mr. Guy Cormier, President and Chief Executive Officer of Desjardins, will be held on Friday, March 17, at the Videotron Centre.

For this great face-to-face return after three years of absence, the event offers an evolving formula that will promote real encounters.

Hosted by Guylaine Tremblay, the evening promises a gourmet meal, testimonials, a tribute to CHU staff, many of whom will be present, dancing, networking, as well as a presentation of the hospitals supported by the Foundation as well as the new hospital complex.
