Forward Tyler Motte agrees to one-year contract with Senators

(Ottawa) The Ottawa Senators have signed forward Tyler Motte to a one-year, $1.35 million contract.

The 27-year-old had 15 points, including seven goals, in 49 games with the Vancouver Canucks last season before being traded to the New York Rangers at the trade deadline.

In nine games with Rangers, Motte was shut out of the scoresheet, but he scored two goals in 15 playoff appearances.

The American from St. Clair, Michigan was a fourth-round pick, 121e overall, Chicago Blackhawks in 2013. In 269 NHL games with the Hawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Canucks and Rangers, he scored 35 goals and added 27 assists.
