The 35-year-old German pilot explains that he wants to spend more time with his family.

Vettel won the F1 title from 2010 to 2013 with the Red Bull team. His last race victory came with Ferrari in 2019.

This season, he is teaming up with Quebec driver Lance Stroll in the Aston Martin team. He has had little success so far this season, with his best finish being sixth place. He currently sits eleventh in the driver standings for the current season.

“The decision to retire was difficult for me and I spent a lot of time thinking about it,” Vettel said. “At the end of the year, I want to take more time to think about what I’m going to focus on next; it’s very clear to me that as a father, I want to spend more time with my family. »
