(Paris) One month after presenting the livery of its 2024 single-seater, the MCL38, the British Formula 1 team McLaren unveiled on Wednesday its car which will start the season next week during testing in Bahrain.
“The team did a good job over the winter and we are confident in our ability to be competitive even though we still have important tasks to accomplish before the start of the season,” explained Andrea Stella, team director. McLaren team.
“There are a number of innovations on the car, but not all the areas we wanted to improve have yet been improved for our launch car. We are now focusing on these sectors to include them in the developments that will happen during the season and on which we are already working,” he added.
The Italian leader seems more confident than a year ago, when he had just arrived in the British team and presented a car which foreshadowed a difficult start to the season.
McLaren had indeed experienced a very difficult first few months, scoring only 17 points in the first eight Grands Prix.

But the developments made from the Austrian GP at the beginning of July, then in Singapore in September, allowed the team based in Woking (England) to raise the bar in spectacular fashion and finish fourth in the constructors’ standings with 302 points. .
The Briton Lando Norris had indeed won six second and one third places, while the Australian rookie Oscar Piastri had added two podiums and a victory during the sprint in Qatar.
“I can’t wait to test the car at the Bahrain test. I am confident that we can continue our momentum from last season,” said Norris, who will begin his sixth season at McLaren, with whom he extended his contract for several years last month.
